CURRENT THE FASHION BODY |
An intrepid exploration of the human form through fashion and motion image, our latest in-depth fashion film season The Fashion Body closes with it's forty-second - and final - film short, created by SHOWstudio.com founder and director Nick Knight.
Inspired by Sissy Bounce - a hip-hop musical genre from the American deep south - and New Orleans dance-hall queen Quack, Knight captures 'The Hips' gyrating through the bounce and whobble steps of this latest underground craze, in a filmic style inspired by lo-fi Youtube home movies. These dynamo hips, however, are swathed with the high-octane and eye-popping likes of Alexander Wang, Mark Fast and archive pieces from Alexander McQueen and John Galliano for Dior. Watch fashion from the likes of Lanvin, Alexander McQueen, Yves Saint Laurent and a dash of Dior haute couture unfold into monumental organic forms, alongside video highlights and interviews, in this live and exclusive two-day broadcast. |

Celebrating the awe-inspiring imagination and groundbreaking designs of Lee Alexander McQueen, the latest fashion film by Nick Knight pays tribute to McQueen's sensational creations, stellar career, and most importantly to the man himself. CURRENT IN FASHION, JOSEPH ALTUZARRA |
|
|
Four collections on since his debut, Joseph Altuzarra has become a hot frontrunner amongst a new breed of young New York designers currently garnering the prized support of fashion’s most powerful movers and shakers. Altuzarra sat down with our Fashion Director Alexander Fury to discuss his life and work ahead of his S/S 2011 show - and our video edit has just been launched on site.
The next addition to this ever-expanding series is style icon and 'fashion maniac' Anna Dello Russo, street-style patron saint, obsessive clothing collector and Editor-at-Large of Vogue Japan. Dello Russo made a pit-stop during the last London collections to discuss her life, career and wardrobe - and, as we move into S/S 2011, her intimate one-on-one seems a fitting close to this year of In Fashion programming. COMING UP THE RAVEN |
|
|
The latest of our fashion film editorials looks at the darker side of A/W 2010, taking inspiration from Negredo - a 'black blacker than the blackest black' and first element of the mythological process of alchemy - and its title from the Edgar Allen Poe poem The Raven. Photographer and filmmaker Jez Tozer works with actress Billie Piper to create a filmic short that is a melancholic and emotional reflection of the sombre mood of restraint so evident for next season. The deeper side to the little black dress - The Raven launches this Friday at 15:00 GMT. |

FROM THE SHOP UNTITLED, 2010 |

Our Florist exhibition has encouraged an array of fashion creatives to wish us 'Happy Birthday' in flowers - but, for the Japan-born and Paris-based house of Kenzo, floral abundance is second nature. Witness the latest offering of Kenzo creative director Antonio Marras for our show - a hand-painted array of billowing flowers grasped within two hands. Created in Marras' Sardinian home, the abstract painting reclines within a vintage case that cleverly compliments the muddy, organic tones of the floral image and also underscores the nomadic inspirations behind Kenzo's celebrated collections. Fitting really, as the esteemed house also celebrates its fortieth year in business. Blooming marvellous! [more] |

In tune with SHOWstudio Shop’s 12 Days of Christmas, we step back into our archive to re-discover our 2006 Twelve Days – a video project created in collaboration with Swarovski to celebrate the festive season. SHOWstudio.com invited twelve of our firm fashion favourites - including Giles Deacon, Christopher Kane, Marios Schwab, Gareth Pugh and Francesca Burns – to decorate a photographic print by Nick Knight with Swarovski crystals to a design of their choice. Augmenting the joyous spirit of gift-giving, the live-streamed project gave a celebratory sparkle to each of SHOWstudio.com’s twelve days. [more] |
