CURRENT LIVESTUDIO - SHYSTIE |
When enigmatic MC Shystie delved deep into the basement space here at Bruton Place back in April, what emerged was a raucous array of spit-quick lyrics and lead heavy bass - but it wasn't just about the music. Styled by Nasir Mazhar in fashion from an array of London talent, this unique experience can be relived, vicariously, all over again on SHOWstudio.com with our exclusive edit of Shystie's two-song set. CURRENT OBJECT FETISH |
The perfect antithesis to the minimalism of fashion’s majority for A/W 2010, this week's Object Fetish is Mary Katrantzou's weighty necklace, a fly-in-your-face fantastical slab of baroque ormolu. Pastiched from eighteenth-century interiors and portrait-frames, glittering in silver and gold and tumbling to cover the entire torso, its unapologetic excess is a welcome antidote to this, the season of the beige car-coat, and certainly worthy of our fetishistic attachment and attention.

CURRENT MIRROR MIRROR |
Our five-day Mirror Mirror stint on the ground floor of Topshop Oxford Circus earlier this month saw dozens of creatives, stylists and image-makers act as guiding gurus for streams of eager high street shoppers. If you didn't manage to make it down during the installation's run, we offer you a second glance into their reflections this week as we launch both a video an image gallery documenting this event. Relive comments from the likes of Nicola Formichetti, Erin O'Connor and Edward Enninful, watch our video of the installation, or scour the gallery to see if your image made our final cut. [more] |

FROM THE SHOP UNTITLED, 2009 |
Don't be fooled - though Ed Griffiths' densely compressed blocks are often mistaken for wood, the multi-disciplined designer creates his pieces from compressed calfskin, fusing the curvaceous and the linear into a structurally spectacular leather edition. These figurine-sized totems to minimalism are evocative of Richard Serra’s sculptural constructions and have featured in Lady Gaga’s tour video amongst numerous stage shows, films and catwalks. This leather-based artist is set to showcase his capabilities in our LiveStudio next week.
Tune in from 13:00 BST from 1-4 June 2010 to watch Griffiths turn leather into rock solid, brutalist design. [more] |

FROM THE ARCHIVE LYRIC |
The creative pairing of our In Camera interviewee Lady Gaga with pop icon Beyoncé for their epic duet Telephone hails back to our 2004 project Lyric. Take your pick of synchronicities: collaboration of creatives such as stylist Katy England and Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie, and Antipodean pop princess Kylie Minogue and Nick Knight; immortalisation of musical lyrics through innovative video; or, indeed, the fact that said motion image was shot on mobile telephones. Music and fashion, as ever, make fine bedfellow - hopefully this whets your appetite for Lady Gaga's live interview on Sunday. [more] |
