Kate Moss and Bobby Gillespie
When SHOWstudio launched sixteen years ago, on 27 November 2000 at 19:27 GMT, the first film to feature on the site was 'Diamond Blues'. The film features intimate Super-8 footage of supermodel Kate Moss singing with Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie. The musician, Moss and a selection of their friends record an impromptu version of the track 'Diamond Blues' in this film depicting the lightness of a playful summer's afternoon. — North
Christopher Shannon
Motivated by questioning existing depictions of the North of England in fashion imagery, SHOWstudio editor-at-large Lou Stoppard and Manchester-based academic Adam Murray united to unpick Northern identity. As part of SHOWstudio's 'North' series, the duo invited key creative practitioners including Simon Foxton, Claire Barrow and Gareth Pugh, to discuss the links between their creative practice and their Northern upbringing. The latest interview sees Liverpudlian designer Christopher Shannon discussing the effect his hometown had on his sense of style and self. 'When you've never fitted in anywhere it's hard to feel there's a sense of home,' says Shannon.
