Opening to the public tomorrow - and with a private view this evening - the SHOWstudio Shop is pleased to invite you to come To Bed. IN FASHION, ALICE HAWKINS - LIVE
#########
In our next In Fashion live interview, set to broadcast from 12:30 on 3 February, our Fashion Director Alexander Fury will hold court with celebrated British photographer and image-maker Alice Hawkins. In addition to being a SHOWstudio.com contributor, most recently with a cinematic exploration of the A/W 2010 collections filtered through notions of English class consciousness in her film The Good Life, Hawkins has also shot stories for Pop, i-D, Russian Vogue, Harper's Bazaar and The Independent Magazine amongst others. Hawkins' audacious work continues to straddle the line between fine art and fashion, provoking a reevaluation of the definitions of taste from both industry and outsiders alike.

Our In Fashion interview with Alice Hawkins will be streamed live from 12:30 GMT Thursday 3 February 2011

The resulting fashion films will be released over spring 2011, alongside interviews with each of the editors underlining their individual approach to the footage, the process of 'editing Kate', and the emerging genre of fashion film - consistently championed by Nick Knight and SHOWstudio.com

GARETH PUGH A/W 2009

Following Gareth Pugh's latest Collection- conceived especially for a 'fashion film fresco' created with Ruth Hogben for Pitti Immagine #79 - the time feels ripe to look back to Pugh's first foray into presenting his collection via film, for A/W 2009. Again in collaboration with Hogben, this collaboration was dubbed 'mesmerising' by style.com's Tim Blanks - pushing the reset button on the way fashion viewed both the internet, and video presentation of clothing, and no doubt helping path the way for the future presentation of fashion imagery.

The A/W 2011 season opens with Pitti Immagine #79, the Florentine fashion showcase, this time welcoming guest designers Alberta Ferretti, Trussardi 1911 and Britain's own Gareth Pugh. While Ferretti and Trussardi present classic no-holds barred Italian catwalk extravaganza - Ferretti in a deconsecrated church and Trussardi in a station transformed into a contemporary art installation - Pugh opts to create a 'site-specific performance' in Florence's 13th-century Orsanmichele.

SHOWstudio.com will be exclusively showcasing a unique element of Pugh's installation online, in tandem with his Pitti show at 20:00 GMT on Thursday 13 January [more]

The time has come to bid farewell to our now fully blossomed exhibition Florist – the show that set about to celebrate an astounding decade of SHOWstudio.com. Reinventing the traditional nature of still life, artists such as Mary Temple, Daniel Brown and Yohji Yamamoto created cutting edge pieces that flourished alongside LiveStudio performances from Stephen Jones and Mary Katrantzou. Brightening up the gloomy winter days, the florally abundant artwork ranged from a real English rose cast in resin, a prolific Guy Bourdin image, silk Mother of Pearl garments and a plaster cast arse from Mr Pugh. The perfect way to mark SHOWstudio’s ongoing innovation - here’s to the next ten years… [more]

As we approach young editors to 'Edit Kate' in our latest fashion film season, our Editing Fashion project of 2005-6 feels especially appropriate to revisit. Asking each to utilise the same raw material, the emphasis was placed on the authorship and approach of each individual editor, emphasising the importance of their hand in the creative process behind fashion film. Alberta Ferretti opens Pitti with a bang!
