CURRENT TO BED | |
Opening to the public tomorrow - and with a private view this evening - the SHOWstudio Shop is pleased to invite you to come To Bed. To Bed includes major works by Marina Bychkova, Chanel, Corinne Day, Jeremy Kost, Nick Knight, Mel Odom, Maiko Takeda, Viktor & Rolf, and Andy Warhol. COMING UP IN FASHION, ALICE HAWKINS - LIVE
In our next In Fashion live interview, set to broadcast from 12:30 on 3 February, our Fashion Director Alexander Fury will hold court with celebrated British photographer and image-maker Alice Hawkins. In addition to being a SHOWstudio.com contributor, most recently with a cinematic exploration of the A/W 2010 collections filtered through notions of English class consciousness in her film The Good Life, Hawkins has also shot stories for Pop, i-D, Russian Vogue, Harper's Bazaar and The Independent Magazine amongst others. Hawkins' audacious work continues to straddle the line between fine art and fashion, provoking a reevaluation of the definitions of taste from both industry and outsiders alike. Our In Fashion interview with Alice Hawkins will be streamed live from 12:30 GMT Thursday 3 February 2011
FROM THE SHOP ROSE RED, 1983
American artist Mel Odom has been producing award-winning art since the 1970’s and for our newest exhibition To Bed, Odom’s most iconic piece titled Rose Red is being exclusively shown. The illustration was originally created for a Playboy story back in 1983 and also includes a separate illustration of four solitary fallen petals. Produced using the everlasting Peerless Dyes and pencil, the sensual image of a beautiful sleeping woman, surrounded by red roses and thick locks of hair, invites the viewer into the land of comfort and sleep. FROM THE ARCHIVE SLEEP, 2001
Positively lulled by tonight's opening of the latest SHOWstudio.com Shop show To Bed, we daydream back to the very first ever global, live fashion shoot, 2001's Sleep. Taking place in the wee hours that stretched between the 10 and 11 of December 2001, SHOWstudio.com viewers were invited to log on at midnight and witness a bevy of top models, groomed head to toe and dressed in the latest fashions, as their unconscious 'performances' were recorded in a series of intimate webcam stills.
