VENUS
An explosive and celebratory exploration of the concept of gender - male, female and everything in-between - our latest fashion film project Venus launches today. A tribute to the work of illustrator Mel Odom, Venus leads with a fashion film that pushes the boundaries of the medium to the extreme, composed of footage captured during Nick Knight and Nicola Formichetti's live shoot for the cover editorial of the Winter/Summer 2011 issue of Arena Homme Plus. To unravel the complex visual references behind the film, galleries show Knight's original editorial images - including previously unpublished stills -  and a selection of Odom's original work, curated by the artist himself. Finally, three interviews with Knight, Odom, and transsexual model Danni Daniels probe behind the maquillage and glitter to discuss notions of gender boundaries, sexuality and our ever-fluctuating perceptions of beauty.

WARNING: 'Venus' contains sexually oriented adult material intended for individuals 18 years of age or older. If you are not 18, if adult material offends you, or if you are browsing from any country or city where adult material is specifically prohibited by law, please do not view. [more]

THE DEATH OF JEAN SEBERG
Inspired by the controversial and shocking death of the all-American actress Jean Seberg in 1979, Daphne Guinness collaborates with filmmaker and photographer Joe Lally to create The Murder of Jean Seberg, an atmospheric film exploring Seberg's cinematic legacy, haunting beauty and the tragedy of her story. Guinness stars as Seberg herself alongside Michael Brager, while Lally directs and edits this expressive film that twists the traditional biopic into a unique Internet art film.

Coinciding with the film's debut on SHOWstudio.com, interviews with Guinness and Lally are presented to capture the thought process behind this unique collaboration.

The Murder Of Jean Seberg is released exclusively on SHOWstudio.com on Friday 24 June 2011 at 10:00 EST / 17:00 BST

LES SMOKINGS - GILES DEACON
Last week Craig Lawrence became the first designer to take up residence in our Bruton Place studio to craft a tuxedo jacket live as part of the SHOWstudio Shop exhibition Practice to Deceive. The second designer to take up the challenge is British design leader Giles Deacon, a highlight of both London and Paris fashion weeks under his eponymous label and as chief designer for the house of Emanuel Ungaro. Creating a bespoke version of the classic Le Smoking in his own inimitable fashion, Deacon and team will be in the studio on Monday 27 June from 10:00 BST to create the second tuxedo jacket of this series. The entire process, from conception to completion, will be streamed live, with Deacon taking questions from the public has he re-interprets and re-invents this iconic garment.

MILAN MENSWEAR SPRING/SUMMER 2012
Rumpelstiltskin, the Heimlich Manoeuvre, Lilly Pulitzer meets Lego and Miami Vice? The metaphors were flying at Milan fashion week, as fashion director Alex Fury reported direct from the taffeta-lined trenches of the Spring/Summer 2012 shows. From Raf Simons' jaw-dropping take on postmodern bricolage at Jil Sander, to Miuccia Prada's acid day-tripping golf enthusiasts, to Donatella Versace's colour-saturated romp through the archives, all reports from Milan are now online. The baton now passes to Hywel Davies, who continues our round-the-clock catwalk coverage as Paris menswear kicks off with Nicola Formichetti's latest for Mugler!

SHOWstudio.com's Collections coverage of the Paris Spring/Summer 2012 Menswear begins today.

TUXEDO JACKET, 2011
As part of the SHOWstudio Shop exhibition Practice to Deceive: Smoke & Mirrors in Fashion, Fine Art and Film, we have asked a selection of leading designers to take residency in our studio as they re-interpret an all-time fashion classic: the tuxedo. Knitwear wizard and NEWGEN star Craig Lawrence was the first to dispel the myths and misconceptions of design, crafting his own idiosyncratic version of a tuxedo jacket - or, as the French would say, Le Smoking - in a unique three-day live broadcast last week. A wholly one-off piece, Lawrence's jacket is knitted in circles from both gimp and cotton yarn, wrapped in metallic foil - fusing smoke and mirrors in a single garment. Lawrence’s Le Smoking, the first of our series, is now available to view at SHOWstudio Shop, and to purchase complete with a DVD charting the process of creation. [more]

TRANSFORMER
As we examine the idea of transgender and transformation in our Venus project, it seems fitting to look back at an iconic SHOWstudio.com archive piece - Transformer, a shoot that delved into the concept of metamorphosis as inspiration. Broadcast live online to a global audience in July 2002 - quickly to become a SHOWstudio.com trademark - designers, models, stylists, celebrities, and performers were invited to the studio for this innovative fashion event. The final images from the shoot are showcased online alongside collaborative, transformative films, starring Erin O'Connor, Katy England and Bobby Gillespie, and Lee Alexander McQueen.

Re-See: Prada S/S 2012

Its always a feeding-frenzy at a Prada re-see - unlike the often-perfunctory visits to other purveyors, the editors and journalists at Prada are genuinely excited to see the wares up close, and more often than consider exactly what they'll be purchasing come next season...

Band Of Outsiders at Pitti Immagine
Scott Sternberg's Band Of Outsiders was a highlight of Pitti Immagine - in fact, it may be a highlight of a still-young season. After all, how could anyone top a re-staging of West Side Story as centrepiece to a fashion show? Especially when said show is all about all-American sportswear... [more]
