Nick Knight tackles sexual taboo and online censorship

Born out of a desire to bring more intimate and realistic portrayals of sex to the forefront of fashion, Knight asked his students to create a sexual image taken from an erotic film of their creation, resulting in a catalogue of eroticism and sexuality in the context of contemporary fashion. The resulting films, now shown on SHOWstudio were selected by Knight, model and artist Tessa Kuragi and graphic designer Tom Hingston in collaboration with Mastered. Julie Verhoeven and Peter Saville's interactive wallpaper offsets Toile de Jouy with Japanese rope suspension bondage

Creating a labyrinth of imagery which fuses together art, sexuality, fashion and technology, Julie Verhoeven's imagery explores the mainstream role of pornography in fashion photography. Turning the viewer into an active participant, Verhoeven collaborated with Peter Saville to produce 'Forget-Me-Not', an online invitation to the viewer to 'stroke' the imagery. The interactive thus counters the notion of passive consumption of pornography, demanding interaction for stimulation.

Capturing artist and model Tessa Kuragi's free spirited sexuality and practise of Shibari bondage, Nick Knight explores fetishism in this fashion film. Alongside a dreamscape editorial styled by Katy England, the shoot looks at escapism and the ability to form new realities through fantasy. Explore the fleeting and transient nature between waking life and dreams with 'Tessa Kuragi: Reverie'.
