Kicking off with New York, we are covering all the major A/W 16 collections with both catwalk and backstage images. Stay tuned for all the latest news. — Essay — Gender and the North Dr Helen Smith As part of our ongoing 'North' project, which questions and explores representations of the North of England in culture and fashion, Dr Helen Smith, a lecturer in Twentieth Century British History at the University of Lincoln, explores the relationship between gender and the North, the emergence of 'laddishness' and the stereotypes prevalent in the area in a scholarly new essay. — Project — Transformative Eugene Souleiman and Nick Knight Our 'Transformative' series is back! The project's aim is to explore the history of fashion photography through a series of interviews with hair stylists and make-up artists, going behind the scenes of what it takes to create a successful photograph. In the latest instalment, hairstylist Eugene Souleiman talks to Nick Knight about how he became a hairdresser, his relationship with Pat McGrath and working with Craig McDean on the Jil Sander S/S 96 lookbook. — Collections — Menswear Round-ups London, Milan and Paris The menswear collections are over, but you can revisit and review the collections in our Menswear A/W 16 round-up panels. Lou Stoppard will be chairing the discussions with leading industry professionals such as the FT's Charlie Porter, MATCHESFASHION.com's Simon Chilvers, designer Patrick Grant and Harvey Nichols' Darren Skey to discuss the standout collections from London, Milan and Paris. — Auction — Merry's Christmas Kate Moss and James Merry Bidding has now opened on this 'Moss 4 Moss' sweater. Head online now to browse the collection. — Collections — New York S/S 16 Illustrator February James Illustrator February James will be joining SHOWstudio during New York Fashion Week to depict key looks from the A/W 16 collections by the likes of Yeezy, Marc Jacobs, Calvin Klein and DKNY. Working primarily in oil pastels, James uses bold colours and expressive lines to create her works. All of James' pieces will be displayed on our Tumblr page and available to purchase from our SHOWstudio/MACHINE-A online store soon after. — From the Blog — Vogue 100: A Century of Style Nick Knight To celebrate the 100th anniversary of British Vogue, the National Portrait Gallery is hosting an exhibition of over 280 photographs from the Condé Nast archive, showcasing the incredible talent featured on the magazine's pages. Alongside works by the likes of Mario Testino, Tim Walker, Helmut Newton and Patrick Demarchelier are a number of works by SHOWstudio's director, Nick Knight. The exhibition runs until 22 May 2016. — From the Archive — In Fashion Public School While you wait to see what's in store for their A/W 16 DKNY catwalk show in New York, revisit our interview with Public School founders, Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne.
