— Hair by Sam McKnight Sam McKnight and Nick Knight Opening tomorrow, 2 November, 'Hair by Sam McKnight' is on display Somerset House until 12 March 2017. Showcasing McKnight's 40 years as a session hair stylist, the exhibition charts imagery from the seventies until the present day and highlights the significance of McKnight's role in creating iconic fashion images and styles for the catwalk. Many of the images on display showcase Nick Knight's longstanding working relationship with McKnight and demonstrate the skill set needed by a hair stylist to create exemplary imagery. Revisit our 'In Fashion' series for an interview with McKnight from our 2010 archive to learn more about this creative collaboration and the impact of McKnight's work on the world of fashion. — Project — Haute Death Nick Knight, Sam McKnight and Edward Enninful Watch Sam McKnight sculpt Karlie Kloss' locks into a series of gravity defying candy coloured up-do's for 'Haute Death'. The live-stream shows McKnight at work creating wigs and styles for Kloss as she models the best haute couture looks from A/W 12 in Nick Knight and Edward Enninful's editorial for W magazine. Revisit the project to explore imagery inspired by the macabre, nightmarish illustrations often found in childhood fiction and to observe the working relationship between Knight and McKnight on set. — Tumblr — Tumblr take-over Sam McKnight, Shonagh Marshall, Tory Turk and more For the first week of November, a selection of the team behind the new exhibition and coinciding book, 'Hair by Sam McKnight', will be taking over our Tumblr. Archivist Tory Turk will kick off the take-over, posting behind-the-scenes photos and research, along with seminal Sam McKnight images. Sam McKnight, creative director Eamonn Hughes, creative researcher Myles Grimsdale and curator Shonagh Marshall will continue the posts throughout the week. Revisit our interview with hair doyen Sam McKnight, who discusses working with Princess Diana on her December 1991 Vogue cover. McKnight recalls how the pictures were initially a private commission, shot by Patrick Demarchelier, but tuned out so well that Vogue had to have them. He also speaks about his long collaboration with the Princess, from travelling around the world with her, to famously cropping her hair. 'It was a little bit inspired by Linda [Evangelista],' he reveals. — Project — Always & Forever Sam McKnight, Nick Knight and Charlotte Stockdale Back in 2013, Nick Knight and GARAGE Magazine challenged fashion's fleeting nature by creating an editorial built around a permanent form of art: tattoos. In a two day live-stream, Knight shot six models, including Cara Delevingne and Karlie Kloss, in looks styled by Charlotte Stockdale with hair done by Sam McKnight.
